Dionysi(us) Halicarnasse(nsis): ∆ιονυσιου Αλικαρνασεως τα ευρισκοµενα, ιστορικα τε και phτορικα... ~ scripta quae exstant, omnia, et historica, et rhetorica.
Francofurdi, 1586. Heredes Andreae Wecheli. (16)+792+169+(3)+(12)+280+94+(2)p.
Complete works of Dionysius of Halicarnassus, Greek rhetorician and historian from the 1st century BC. In addition to his writings on rhetorical and stylistic criticism, he also wrote a work on the history of Rome from its beginnings to the First Punic War. This item has particular interest in Hungarian cultural history because it contains one of the few works of one of the most prominent Hungarian humanists, András Dudith, which has appeared in print, a Latin translation of Dionysius' treatise on Thucydides and his commentaries on it. Dudith's multifaceted work - medical, scientific, philological, theological, political - has made him famous throughout Europe. This is his first published work and his only philological writing in print.
Slightly worn, wooden-boarded, contemporary leather.
