Prince Radziwill was a prominent figure in the Lithuanian counter-reformation movement. He visited the Holy Land between 1582 and 1584. His travel diary of the pilgrimage was first published in 1601 and translated by his translator, Treter. Due to its rich content and literary value, it became very popular with about twenty editions. In addition to Latin, it was also published in German, French, Polish and Russian. It is considered as one of the most important pieces of European pilgrimage literature. It is the only Hungarian edition.
