Heliodorus’s love story, Aithiopica", had a significant impact on Hungarian literature, Mihály Czobor's translation, made around 1600, was also in Miklós Zrínyi's library. The most famous interpretation was István Gyöngyösi's "Uj életre hozatott Chariclia". Romanticism rediscovered the story, the first manifestation of which was this work of Dugonics.
Contemporary leather with painted endpapers. Spine richly gilt, slightly worn.
