János Kádár was arguably one of the most important political figures of the 20th century. In his will, his wife, Mária Tamáska, ordered the establishment of a permanent exhibition in the Kádár-house. He seems to have had enough sense of reality left in him to have anticipated this failure. In this case, she ordered the organisation of a charity auction of her objects. The auction took place on 20-21 March 1993, with surprising success. Some three decades have passed since then, and the piece is now a unique, historical relic.
