An important episode of the language renewal era was the tender published by István Kultsár in 1804 in the „Magyar Kurir” on the state of Hungarian language cultivation. In addition to the announcer, Sándor Prónay, Lajos Schedius, Miklós Révai, Ferenc Verseghy, and Benedek Virág participated in the judging committee. Of the twenty-one works submitted in response, Teleki's was the winner. In addition to summarising the movement's history and the historical basis for its demands, he also describes in detail the factors that hindered language development and, in the appendix, attacks the hegemony of Latin as a scientific language.
